Forget What Ever Else Hype There May Be: DRose for MVP!!!!

By now, you’ve heard all the chatter about who is most deserving of the MVP award this season. We’ve all heard it from Lebron or Wade, Nowitzki, Dwight Howard, or even Amare Stoudemire and of course the obligatory Kobe Bryant. But allow me to chime on my opinion, and that is: DRose for MVP BABY!!! HELL –to – the YEAH!!!!!

Derrick Rose has been balling this season. And for all you haters who doubted the boy when he asked before the beginning of the season "Why Can't I be MVP", your looking pretty stupid right now. See DRose's comments on Why Can't he be the MVP of the league at: (http://www.aolnews.com/2010/10/16/derrick-rose-expects-to-bloom-into-mvp-candidate-propel-the-bul/).

Not only have the Bulls managed to overcome big injuries to key contributors that kept them out for long stints (see Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah), but they are also leading the Eastern Conference in wins. I’ll repeat that for shock value:

THE BULLS ARE LEADING THE ENTIRE EASTERN CONFERENCE IN WINS!!!

Yes that’s right. That puts them ahead of the Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks, and Orlando Magic, all teams that in the preseason, were projected to have a better record than the Bulls. How is this true you may ask? Look no further than the point position for the Bulls.

Derrick Rose has being playing out of his mind all season, so that begs the question: Is he really playing out of his mind or is this what we should expect from Rose…. Uhh, I’m rolling with the latter. Rose is averaging 25 points a game, eight assists, and 44% shooting from the field, along with 33% from downtown. You can count all these as career highs. And he’s done this all while elevating the play of his team (I think this is key, as some guys can get their own stats, but not necessarily make the team better – see Kevin Love and his misleading double double spree).

Carlos Boozer and Deng are balling this year as well, and it’s all because of how easy having a point guard with the skills of DRose can make the game for you. Derrick can score, rebound, and pass with the best of them. He’s a strong body who can take a hit and still score. He’s a guy who attract enough attention to get his teammate an open shot. All characteristics of a great player and MVP candidate.

But all this can’t be new to you, because you’ve heard all the critics, and they agree with ya’ boy ‘Nolo. DRose is the MVP. The Greatest Player Ever said it himself (Mike Jordan) – Derrick Rose should be MVP. Jordan also went on to make another proclamation and that was that this year’s team is a championship contender. I know that when Rose heard Jordan say that, he couldn’t have been more proud. Being from Chicago himself, Rose more than likely grew up idolizing Jordan, and with him making those comments, Derrick couldn’t have been more elated. Now after Jordan, Rose gets his opportunity to put his stamp on the Bulls and make a run at his own dynasty.

Let’s get it done Rose, bring that ‘Ship back to the Midwest where it rightfully belongs. Simply put, no player has done more for his team than DRose this year. And if he doesn’t get the award, then maybe it’s time to overhaul the voting process like their doing with the hall of Fame.

  1. Being a lebron fan, I must say after watching the guy in a game, he has the slight edge of a coin flip due to injuries and team talent level. However, I have to point out that the 44% field goal percentage is a career low.
